🚨 BREAKING CHANGES - Amazon Timestream availability change! 🚨

Amazon Timestream for LiveAnalytics will no longer be open to new customers starting June 20, 2025.

That is very bad news for numerous AWS IoT deployments. I deployed Amazon Timestream for various customers using this time series database to store telemetry data.

I liked Timestream because it was an AWS-managed service, so there was no need to worry about the scalability and availability of the underlying infrastructure.

Unfortunately, AWS decided to disable this service for new customers. I assume that is the first step before decommissioning this service in the future. In other words, you should start looking for a Timestream alternative immediately!

Theoretically, you could switch to Amazon Timestream for InfluxDB, but I do not think that is a good idea at the moment:

❌ You need to pick a fixed instance type - no scalability.
❌ At this time, you can’t modify compute (Instance types) and Storage (Storage Types) configuration of existing instances - adjusting AWS infrastructure to your demand will be problematic.

👉 I am researching various alternatives to Amazon Timestream. Please share your suggestions!
